TLC WINS 16% OF VICTORIA’S ACAR ALLOCATIONS
Jul 30, 2021 Media Releases

TLC Healthcare (TLC) has been awarded 205 subsidised residential aged care places in the 2020 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR), which is 100% of their requested places. This is the highest number of aged care places allocated to a single provider in Australia.

The 2020 ACAR results were announced by the Department of Health today, and TLC’s allocation represents 16% of the total number of Victorian places allocated, and 5% of the total national figure.

The CEO of TLC Healthcare, Lou Pascuzzi, says that the places allocated to them will be utilised at their recently completed site expansions, and at their exciting new integrated health care development. “Of the 205 places allocated to TLC today, 25 will be used for bed-ready places at Warralily Gardens and 30 at Sunlight; our expanded residential aged care homes in Armstrong Creek outside Geelong, and Whittlesea in the north of Melbourne. The additional 150 places will be allocated to our new state-of-the art integrated health care facility in Melbourne.

“TLC’s latest development, located opposite Woodlands Golf Course in Mordialloc, will incorporate a 120 place child care centre alongside a 150 place residential aged care home, community medical centre, commercial health club, swimming pool and café. Due for completion in August 2022, this bold new development is the first time this range of intergenerational care services have been offered in one location by a single provider.

“This development expands on TLC’s integration strategy, which has seen them combine community medical centres, gymnasiums and swimming pools with their aged care homes located across Melbourne and Geelong. Child care is a new endeavor for TLC, one that is a natural progression for the organisation, as are commercial health clubs”.

Lou Pascuzzi is delighted that Mordialloc will open with a full allocation of places. “TLC has been allocated 505 residential aged care places in the past 7 years, and we have converted all of those allocations to fully operational aged care accommodation. Our development in Mordialloc is on-track to open August 2022 and that will be the final step in making all of our allocated places operational.

”Unlike some other aged care providers, TLC is not in the business of applying for residential aged care places and not providing those services to the community. At TLC, we don’t “bank” residential aged care licenses for financial gain. All TLC allocated licenses over the last 8 years have materialised into operational rooms within 24 months of allocation, and the Department of Health has recognised our commitment to service provision in the 2020 allocations” says Pascuzzi.
